Human Resources

At Heizer | Paul, we know the challenges human resource professionals face every day. Whether it's revising an employee handbook, or answering a Department of Labor inquiry about an ERISA-qualified plan, our sensible, strategic approach can make us a valuable part of your HR team.

Employment Law

We assist HR Professionals navigate through local, state, and federal employment regulations to avoid problems, and promptly resolve them when they arise:

  • We help private and publicly held companies with hundreds – or just a handful – of employees create, administer, and revise their personnel policies and employee handbooks.
  • We have particular expertise in advising local governments on HR issues, including those related to police and firefighters.
  • We deal with questions about overtime, the ADA , the ADEA, and Title VII compliance, as well as problems related to FMLA leave.
  • We draft, negotiate, and review employment contracts and have a great deal of experience dealing with non-competition, non-solicitation, and trade secrets protection issues.
  • We train management and line employees about preventing sexual harassment and conduct investigations when complaints are made.
  • We guide our clients through the myriad employment law issues related to mergers, acquisitions, and reductions in force.

Although we prefer to assist our clients in avoiding employment claims, we also represent them before administrative agencies, such as the EEOC, and in employment litigation.

In addition, we're known far and wide for our enthusiastic presentations on just about everything you ever wanted to know about employment law. We're happy to provide references from those who've attended.
