Litigation & Dispute Resolution
Representing our clients in litigation, as well as in alternative dispute resolution proceedings, is at the core of our practice.
We have experience serving as counsel to individuals and companies – large and small – in state district courts, as well as before the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court.
We regularly appear in the United States District Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. We also frequently work together with in-house or trial counsel from outside Colorado to assist their clients with litigation filed in Colorado courts.
Much of our work involves serving as litigation counsel to local governments. We’ve handled land use, real estate, construction, employment, employee benefits, attorneys fees, and campaign finance disputes for municipalities and we’re familiar with the particular issues city councils, town boards, and their staffs confront.
In addition to courtroom work, we are also experienced in both meditation and arbitration, particularly with respect to employment and construction industry disputes.
One of the things we try to afford our clients is a healthy sense of fiscal responsibility. We know that litigation isn’t cheap for anyone; at times, it can pose an enormous financial burden. That being the case, we work with our litigation clients from the outset to develop a realistic budget, and then to stick with it. While it’s difficult to know precisely how much a lawsuit will cost to prosecute or defend, we expect that our clients will rely on us to help them determine what options they have, and how much those options will cost to pursue.

We've been retained to take bet-the-company cases to trial and beyond, and to broker prompt, creative, and affordable solutions to more limited disputes. We pride ourselves on knowing the difference between the two and on having the resources in place to handle both.
