Kevin C. Paul

 

In the realm of human resources, Kevin assists employers with everything from hiring to retiring.  He regularly deals with recruitment issues, drafts employment policies, and guides employers through the termination process, as well as providing advice on general compliance with federal and state employment regulations.  Much of Kevin’s time is devoted to assisting city attorneys and human resource directors meet the particular challenges faced by public employers.

Kevin’s health care industry experience is reflected in his current work for physician practices, dental practices, and medical billing companies.  He brings an understanding of federal anti-kickback and Stark issues to drafting and reviewing all manner of contracts, from employment agreements to office leases.  And around Heizer | Paul, Kevin is dubiously known as “HIPAA man,” having developed particular expertise in the verities of the federal Privacy Rule and other privacy-related regulations.

In addition to employment law, Kevin’s litigation practice focuses on construction and real estate disputes.  He also regularly assists Heizer | Paul clients in negotiating real estate transactions and in drafting construction agreements.

Owing to a completely insatiable interest in politics, Kevin has long maintained an active practice related to political campaigns and elections.  He has served as counsel to state ballot initiative and candidate campaigns, advised tax-exempt organizations on the rules regarding their political efforts, and litigated state campaign finance claims.   Kevin is a longstanding supporter of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and also devotes his time to Dental Aid and the Friends of the Denver School of the Arts.
